    About the Chef

The Mix-Master & Executive Chef // Carl Rubadue CEC

Listing the accolades and citing credentials always seems a little self-important, but let me just tell you a little bit about myself. I am long-time Utah transplant (40 yrs) and lifelong chef. Well, it has really been 35 years, but I have truly enjoyed every delicious bite, lesson, and step and I’ve taken in the culinary world. My passion for cooking and teaching is noted by everyone I have worked with, and has been my main drive and joy in founding the Saucey Skillet.

I am the two-time President’s Award Winner, Chef Professional of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement Award Winner from the ACF Beehive State Chefs and Cooks Chapter of Utah. My experience in the kitchen has ranged from The Silver Lake Lodge and Café Mariposa in Deer Valley as Sous Chef to the numerous restaurant and grocery stores from California to Pennsylvania, and Arizona to Oregon. My passion for cooking and creating lead to the opening Ruby’s Café & Catering in 1984 where I was General Partner and Chef.  I continued my kitchen knowledge quest and became a Certified Executive Chef from the American Culinary Federation in 1998.

    Passions, Secrets & Cooking

Nothing makes me happier than when I can share tasty tricks and culinary insights to inspire others to cook more passionately. Sharing plates, sharing passion and sharing traditions is what it’s all about. I love it when someone shares the story of their most treasured (and closely guarded) recipe, handed down from generation-to-generation, because the rich tradition and passion is the key ingredient to incredible food and special memories.

Do I keep secret ingredients to myself?

    Not a chance.

Do I withhold secret culinary techniques?

    Never.

Saucey classes are designed to be hands-on where participants are responsible for cutting, seasoning and actually cooking. Our classes are designed to inspire and empower the cook in each of us to create something new immediately after participating in the class. Watching isn’t good enough because it doesn’t allow the experience to really recreate a dish.  Every one of our Saucey classes is packed with tips, techniques and information to make every meal you cook easier and better. Come join me and let’s teach, share and remind each other that creating your meals is fun, healthy and delicious.
